Middle Schools Athletic Program (MSAP)

   

Mission

The Miami-Dade County Public Schools Middle School Athletic Program addresses the physical, social and emotional needs of early adolescence.  The program encourages and allows for athletic participation by middle school students at many levels of competition.  Interscholastic competition and intramural competition are both integral components of the program.

The mission of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Middle School Athletic Program is to strive to accomplish the following goals:

  • Encourage as many students as possible to participate
  • Foster the development of a student’s character, life skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork
  • Build unity and camaraderie among students
  • Develop the athletic skills of each participant
  • Help students to develop and maintain a positive self-image
  • Achieve the proper balance between athletics and academics
  • Serve as a bridge to high school athletic programs
  • Promote physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle
